South Picks up Huge Conference Win Against Rival Boyce

The South Campus Tigers picked up a massive conference win against rival Boyce Campus on Thursday to move to 3-4 in the conference as the WPCC Tournament approaches next weekend. They will take on Westmoreland in a doubleheader tomorrow and Butler in a single game make-up of the postponed April 24th game. The team hopes to move to 6-4 overall in the conference as they battle for seeding in the tournament.

It was a total team effort on Thursday with Tanner Klein pitching 8 strong innings of 4-run ball (1 earned) for the win, followed by a clutch 1-2-3 9th by Dylan Winseck, who picked up the save. Jeffrey Mendez, Angel Garriga, Devin Cardello, and Joe Cinello all contributed RBI to lead the offense. It was Cardello who came up with the clutch hit, a triple in the 4th to give South the lead and eventual victory. 6 Tigers scored runs in the game and Dylan Winseck quietly added 3 walks to push his OBP on the season to an absurd .561 overall and .586 in conference play.

The young Tigers continue to impress and look to close out the regular season strong prior to WPCC and Region XX Tournament play.
